µPlanet is the new series of programmable digital controllers by Grig. It is engineered for WBS (Water Booster Set) and HVAC/R (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) control systems.
Besides digital controllers, Grig's control systems include remote displays, gateways for different protocol systems (RS232; RS485, ModBus®-RTU, LonWorks®, etc.) and µLadder: a tool set for developing your own control software.
Grig's control systems are meant to give to OEMs a powerful and easy-to-use tool which can be networked to major Building Management Systems.
The electronics is solid as it uses very reliable and long-tested components. The controllers y can be customized both in look and in core to meet OEMs' needs.
All products of µPlanet series can be networked together and to the external world via LAN, Internet, GSM.This gives to the OEMs full control on each individual part of the system and an overall grip on the system for easy remote control.
A wide range of products
µPlanet includes a number of different controllers (µP1, µP2, µBooster, µRain, µPC). Mainly they differ from one another for the number of I/O, the display and the flash memory.
They are meant to give to everybody what they need.
All controllers can be supplied in AC as well as DC.
Mostly they come in a plastic enclosure on DIN-Rail. This enclosure protects the electronics and reduces the risks of electromagnetic charges.
You can choose between 2x16 LCD and 4x20 LCD display or a 3x7-Segments display.
Intputs and outputs are located in different connectors to make it easier final assembling and to avoid electromagnetic interferences.
Remote Display
µVisionX, µVisionX2 and X-Terminal are the remote displays of µPlanet series.
They provide a cheap way to control 2 or more controllers.
All our remote displays can be configured and controlled with µLadder software. They come in a DIN-rail enclosure or in a flat box which can be easily installed on the external door of a control box.
Technology
µPlanet is built on a last-generation 8051 CPU. This CPU grants high-performances and a reliable framework for remote units, expansion cards and networking.
All alarms, the major variable of the systems (e.g. pressure, temperature, humidity etc.) and the status of the controlled devices (pumps, compressors, fans etc.) can be stored in the flash memory.
Once the controller is programmed the parameters can be protected by passwords on more levels (OEM, user 1st level, user 2nd level).
Software
Elettrotecnica Grig can supply standard software to operate µPlanet controller in most fields of refrigeration, air conditioning, water treatment.
With our standard software you can immediately use µPlanet controllers on a number of HVAC/R and WBS duties such as:
- booster sets
- water treatment plants
- air conditioners
- telecom shelters
- chillers
- cold rooms
- air handling unit
- roof top
- maturing rooms
Thanks to µLadder OEMs will be able to edit and customize the standard software which comes with the tool set or to build brand new ones.
The firmware can easily be uploaded to the controller from the PC or simply plugging in a “hot key” (available from 2005).
Networking
µPlanet can be networked to the most popular remote control systems (ModBus®-RTU; TCP/IP, LonWorks® etc.)
